YML "Words with Friends" World Championships!

Words with Friends is a great Scrabble knock-off game. The best part about it is that you can play over the internet against friends and even strangers.

Our friend Jean MacDonald and another listener suggested, seeing as we enjoyed the game so much, why not have a tournament? I thought it was a great idea so, here we are - the 1st YML "Words with Friends" World Championships!

Here's how it works:

Rules

  1. download a copy of Words with Friends. They have free versions for the iPhone and paid versions for both the iPhone and the iPad (the free version also works on the iPad)

  2. Sign up with the game (signing up is the only way to play) and send your sign up name to "contest @ yourmaclifeshow.com" with "Words with Friends" as the Subject Line.
  3. On May 12th, 2010, we will announce the "bracket" and send you an email telling you who you will be competing against.
  4. You will play a best two out of three set of games, using the Words with Friends rules and dictionary (don't complain to us about how "Words with Friends" *isn't* the same as Scrabble :) ). The winner of the match will send a screenshot (on the Words with Friends screen showing the winning games, press the Home and the Power button simultaneously. Your screen will flash and will save a picture in your Camera Roll) to "contest @ yourmaclifeshow.com" with "Words with Friends Winner" as the Subject Line.
  5. Play will continue until the tournament is down to the final two players. The final match will be best three out of five.
  6. All games must be completed within 48 hours of their start time. If game is not completed, the leader (in games or points) will be declared the winner.
  7. Prizes will be awarded randomly and arbitrarily. :)
  8. Prizes will be announced later but will include software, hardware and iTunes Gift Certificates
  9. All judgements of Your Mac Life will be final - and possibly random and arbitrary. :)
  10. HAVE FUN!

Rule number 6 doesn't seem

Rule number 6 doesn't seem solid.

If player one is in the lead by any amount small or large, and it happens to be player one's turn. Player one can just wait out for the 48 hrs to pass to be declare the winner of that game.
