5th Ave Apple Store and Your Mac Life

Your Mac Life is heading down to the 5th Ave Apple Store on Thursday!

We're not just going to line up waiting to buy an iPhone - we're going down there to shoot *live* audio and video, interview folks in line and to giveaway a ton of prizes!

The folks at Speck were the first out of the blocks by sending us their iPhone Holster-Pro:

A stylin' little unit with a very clever "stand" built into the back for propping up your iPhone.

Not to be outdone, we will also have iPhone accessories from our sponsors, Griffin Technology along with products from Incipio, DLO and Orbino - with more to come!

So come on down and join us. You never know - you might walk away with more than just an iPhone!

WWDC & Pacific Catch

NEWSFLASH: Lesa is leaving for the airport and her meet up with Sly in a few mins. Aaron was *supposed* to be arriving shortly after I dropped Lesa off.

Of course, US Air has decided that plan wasn't good enough. :(

Aaron is now *hopefully* getting into LGA at 5:10 which, because or NYC rush hour, *might* get us back to the studio in time for the show.

If it doesn't, have patience. We'll be back eventually and we *will* do a show this evening, come Hell or high water. :)

Recording of Last Night's Show?

Every now and then, you do something so stupid as to completely befuddle even yourself. Tonight was one of those nights.

I deleted last night's show. :(

It doesn't matter how I managed it but I did. I'm trying to get an updated copy of Data Rescue so I can try and recover it but the show may be lost to the ether forever.

Did anyone happen to "capture" it live? If so, please send me an email (shawn at yourmaclifeshow.com) ASAP!

Back Up Day!

Today is the first Wednesday of the month so back up all your important data!

Here's why we bug you guys about it...backup disasters can happen to *anyone*...

Business 2.0, the technology-aware magazine published by Time, periodically reminds readers of the importance of backing up computer files. A 2003 article likened backups to flossing - everyone knows it's important, but few devote enough thought or energy to it.

Last week, Business 2.0 got caught forgetting to floss.

On the night of Monday, April 23, the magazine's editorial system crashed, wiping out all the work that had been done for its June issue. The backup server failed to back up.

Until the night of the crash, the magazine had never had to rely on its backup server, Quittner said, so no one had noticed that its programming was either obsolete or dysfunctional, or both.

Last Day in Austin!

YML Moved to *Thursday*

DOH!

You know how, when you get married, your wife makes plans, tells you about them and then you *immediately* forget those plans?

I'm having one of those days. :(

We are out riding today and Lesa says, "So what time do you want to go to the airport on Wednesday?" Well, I knew she was going to the iStockPhoto iStockalypse so I figured that's what she meant.

I said, "I can drop you off any time."

"What do you mean, "I can drop you off"? You're going too!"

Wha....Of course my small caveman brain had *completely* forgotten about it....

So - Wednesday's show will be postponed 24 hours to Thursday at the same time. Unfortunately, it will also be a pre-taped broadcast. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

YML, Pogue & NPR!

Whew! This announcement has been waiting for a *long* time!

A lot of folks have wondered why we moved to CT. The "official" reason was so Lesa could work closer with David Pogue. But it was also because of a project David needed Shawn's help with - "PogueNation!"

David has really been enjoying the videos, podcasts, CBS spots, etc, he's been doing the past few months. He's really wanted to do even more of it but he's never had the time to go into New York on a regular basis or the equipment in CT to do it. That's where Your Mac Life comes in. :)
