Web Sites of the Week
Each week Sly posts a fun, weird or wacky site of the week sent in by a listener. To submit a website of the week, send an email to Sly.
All I needed to see were the words "Johnny Quest" and I knew this would be this week's Website of the Week. (Besides the Bugs Bunny Roadrunner Hour, JQ was my favourite cartoon as a kid growing up...I even the DVD box set now!) :-)
Hope you enjoy this stop-motion re-creation of the opening to Johnny Quest! (And if you don't...what the heck is the matter with ya?!?) ;-)
If you're at all familiar with Tom Waits you might understand this mashup of him and Sesame Street's Cookie Monster.
Here's Cookie Monster's rendition of Waits' "God's Away On Business".
Not much more to say other than some people really do have too much time on their hands. ;-)
Richard Marx, yes THAT Richard Marx (minus the mullet), now pushing (no pun intended) colonics. :-)
Just how far can one b-list singer fall? Apparently, a helluva long way.
The Owl and the Pussycat - The Sequel. ;-)
The Perfect Friendship
This was originally and supposedly meant for an online dating service video, which has since been turned into one of those annoying little songs that you will have in your head forever.
If I have to suffer, than EVERYBODY suffers! :-)
Not sure if I'll be on tonight's show as it's Game 4 of a very high-spirited (to say the least) Stanley Cup Final between my Canucks and the Boston Bruins. But I wanted to post the website of the week because it's too damn cute/funny not to.
Ever get confused playing the "Shell Game". Maybe you should take lessons from this cat.
Yes, I said cat:
The Stanley Cup Finals start tonight and I need something to calm my nerves..what better to watch then the cutest kitteh video EVAR!
Me thinks I'll add about 1000 views on my own by the time the finals are over. ;-)
This is one of those websites that amazes and confounds me at the same time.
And it will keep listeners occupied for more than a few seconds.
Hope you enjoy!
Okay...last week's Website of the Week was extremely creepy, so this week we're going a lot less cringe-worthy.
'sides who doesn't like dogs...and who doesn't like bacon? And who doesn't especially like dogs being teased by bacon?
I'm not sure but this might be the most disturbing Website of the Week I've ever posted.
And that's saying a lot. ;-)
The Olsen Twins were always kinda creepy, IMO, but this just gives it a whole new level of creepiness.
File this under the category of CUTE BUT NOT SO BRIGHT:
Rubber Fetish Penguin Given the Boot
My back is killing me from tension, I MAYBE got 4 hours sleep, but my Canucks are advancing to the next round of the NHL playoffs after a nail-biter of a 7th game against Chicago last night.
I barely had time to review entries for WoTW, let alone pick one so I'm being selfish and picking something that brings me pure joy. No winner this week, well, unless you're a Canucks' fan, but it works for me.
p.s. Jim Dalrymple, you are dead to me, sir. ;-)
Well maybe not after last night's game, but..... ;-)
"Canucks Rule" - Parody of Ce-Lo Green's "F You" Video.
(Cheesy...absolutely, but sometimes you gotta be all about the cheese.)
Now this is a sequel I might be able to get behind. :-)
Disclaimer: Some naughty words may be present....those with delicate sensitivities are forewarned. ;-)
Um....this just goes to show what a bad cat mommy I am, cuz the cat posts I have are no where near as fancy schmancy as these. Then again....Mac, Woz and Ti (okay, to be fair, it's just Woz) have my leather couch that they can live on and destroy. *Eye roll*
This week, I picked a site that I found for website of the week, mostly because it's nature at its best and well, truth be told, if I'm not gonna get any work done, YOU'RE not gonna get any work done either! :-)
Waiting on 3 bald eagles to hatch. (For the squeamish, currently there is what appears to be a dead bunny at the back end of the Eagle…appears to be missing a tail.)
The 3 eggs are supposed to hatch sometime between now and April 1st.
I love this stuff!
(Now if only there was a cam on the missing NY Cobra! :-)
Well you've probably heard of the Yule Log - the crackling fire video that is usually aired during the Christmas holiday season (my Mom was even given a DVD of the Yule Log).
Well, now there's the Rotisserie Channel
While the link says "the most amusing thing you'll see all day", it's probably only true if you're super geeky.
Wonderful Taiwanese TV commercial from TC Bank. (I loved this as soon as I saw it. Hope you will too.)
"For extraordinary people with extraordinary dreams."
Um.....cool definitely, but still begs the question, Why? :-)
I figured since much of North America is experiencing the opposite of global warming, this would be an excellent choice for Website of the Week.
Playing with hot water in the snow:
So, that's what us Canadians do for fun, eh? ;-)
Um....an unusual, to say the least, case for your iPhone.
At least 10% of all proceeds will go to the Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation, so there is that.
OMG, what a sad, pitiful kitty. :-)
(Ignore the stupid CD plug at the very last second....eye roll.)
Happy New Year and welcome to another year of the weird, wacky, cool or funny websites of the week!
To start us off in 2011, I didn't choose this website of the week strictly for the link submitted, which is pretty odd in and of itself, but moreso because, much like YouTube, this site sucks you into watching video after video.....but of the strangest stuff. :-)
The "digital" story of The Nativity. Too funny!
To all of our listeners, thanks so much for your amazing support over the year and all the best to you and yours for a wonderful holiday. Happy New Year!
See ya in 2011!
This week's Christmas-themed Website of the Week had me laughing out loud...hopefully it does the same for YML listeners. :-)
Well I asked for Christmas themed entries and boy did I get a fun one right off the bat! It's definitely helping to lift my scrooge-like funk.
Here's The Christmas Can Can:
And if you want to see it animated:
Hope you enjoy! :-)
It's that time of year where I start out as a scrooge, cursing every Christmas song played WAY too early, but in search of some Christmas cheer that isn't disillusioning and commercial; this feels like a good start.
Christmas Food Court Flash Mob, Hallelujah Chorus!
For the rest of December, send in your best Christmas websites for a chance at winning Website of the Week to me at slyatyourmaclifeshow.com (replace at with @..duh). ;-)
Is there anyone who hasn't sent a text, email, iChat message or tweet from their iPhone and not had the auto-correct feature change a word or two to something hilarious or even just a little embarrassing? Well this week's Website of the Week has a bunch of hilarious results of iPhone "auto-correcting". ;-)
Great for a few chuckles. ;-)
Without a doubt, the creepiest iPhone charger I have ever seen and never hope to see in the "real world". ;-)
