25 Inventions years that Changed Our Lives
From USA Today
We're a nation of inventors in garages and corporate labs, creating new gadgets and services that delight us and occasionally drive us crazy.
USA Today chose inventions that changed our lives since 1982. (iPod comes in at #8)
(Shawn's Comment:"Changed Our Lives"? That's kind strong for what amounts to a bunch of gadgets, don't you think?)

Gadgets?
Well, most of these items on the list are gadgets but not all of them.
Cellphones have fundamentally changed our lives. No need to elaborate..
Digital cameras have changed an entire industry... no more massive amounts of chemicals produced and instant pictures! How many gigabytes of photos do you have? and how many have you actually printed out?
And Debit cards. I have travelled all over the world with $20 in my pocket and walked up to a bank machine and got out local cash. I am not talking in major cities but in the middle of Siberia and Brazil! In the past, I would have to have to make an appointment at a bank to bring in local currency and buy it while being charged an outrageous service fee and exchange rate. Also, I would also get travellers cheques as wellas a backup. Now, getting cash anywhere in the world is no problem...
