Apple Faithful dial M for Mutiny

From The Guardian
The disciples have begun to question their faith. 'We suffer so Apple can make a few more bucks, when Apple is clearly not hurting for money,' wrote Wil Shipley, an American software developer, on his blog, Call Me Fishmeal. 'We were there when Apple was hurting, we stuck with it, we nursed her back to health. It's our money she has now, and she's turning on us now that she's rich off it.'

(Shawn's Comment: *If* Shipley said this (and I can't find it on his blog), then he's a whiny baby who should take his toys and go home)

Shipley said this.

I think he has a decent argument on his blog.

note: this was written before the iPhone SDK announcement

I have to agree - I thought

I have to agree - I thought shiply's post was good too, but I think the Guardian took the quote a little out of context to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I can agree with some of the statements they make but not the conclusions they reach. The "Apple Deciples" are constantly "questioning" their faith to paraphrase the article as anyone who follows the mac community knows. Much of it has been smoothed over since with Jobs' statement on the iPhone dev kit.

Screw that

I'm more offended by this continual use of the Mac users as religious fanatics metaphor implying that Mac users don't think logically about their choice of platform but blindly follow the commands of Pope Jobs. Anyone who has been involved in the Mac community knows how we love to piss and moan about many of the decrees handed down from Mount Cupertino. OS upgrade pricing, cutting off of support for older machines, charging for .Mac etc. have all caused much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Beats the "Thank you sir, may I have another?" submission of the PC side.
