The woes of Leopard
Hi Lesa/Shawn,
I just had to email you about my Leopard experiences so far. I'm very frustrated and just going to go back to Tiger. I really should have
listened to you'll in the first place.
I am what I would call a "Mac Mac" and love Apple products. The problem is Leopard. I installed it on my laptop and installed my apps. Everything worked perfectly. So without thinking twice I installed Leopard on my desktop machine (Mac Pro). I have seen nothing but problems.
When I initially installed Leopard I would reboot my computer and get a blinking file with a question mark in the middle telling me that my computer couldn't find a bootable drive. I pushed my power button and reinstalled leopard. I got that message one more time after the reinstall and just rebooted and haven't seen that error since. After a 1/2 week of using I was trying to install some software (fetch) to pull information from my FTP site and I tried to authenticate my user (the only one I put on my computer) and it gave me invalid username/password.
So I went to my administration and found my user wasn't an administrative user on my computer. I then went to the apple forums and found that other users are seeing this and there is a work around involving instating a "root" user and using that user to give your "old" administrative user the access you need.
Anyway, I have spent too much time installing and now trying to fix my user. I know I will have to go back to Tiger (regrettably) until Leopard is fixed. I just wonder how or why I thought I could go to Leopard on my production machine. :( At least I didn't lose my data. I just lost time. And time is valuable. :( Wish I liked motorcycles, might make this more fun.
Thanks,
Jerimy
