The Pickwick Hotel - *Official* Hotel of Your Mac Life - Macworld 2009!

Thanks to our friends at IDG, organizers of Macworld Conference & Expo, Your Mac Life is pleased to be able to offer our listeners great accommodations at a great rate during Macworld Conference & Expo 2009.

The Pickwick Hotel, located at 85 5th Street (5th & Mission), will once again be our (and hopefully your) home away from home this coming January 2009. Its proximity to transportation (BART, not to mentioned the famed cable car turnaround at Powell Street, are nearby), fabulous restaurants and Sly’s favourite tourist attraction – shopping (Bloomingdales is next door as is the San Francisco Shopping Center) – make it an ideal location for all your Macworld accommodation and San Francisco tourist needs.

YML and IDG have developed a quick and easy way for you to reserve your room online for Macworld 2009. Rooms are available under the YML block at the Pickwick Hotel at the rate of $179.00 per night plus tax (single or double occupancy), which includes hi-speed internet access.

A credit card number is required to process your reservation and you *must* reserve your room by December 15, 2008. Keep in mind rooms are selling out quickly in other hotels so we can only encourage you to book as soon as possible to ensure there’s “room at the inn” for ya. Accommodations and rates are based upon availability and after December 15, 2008 are subject to change. Rates are also subject to all applicable state and local taxes (currently 14.065% per room, per night), which are in addition to the $179/night rate. FYI - fees for extra room guests: 2nd guest: $0.00, 3rd guest: $20/night, 4th guest $20/night per adult.

1. Rooms can be reserved online HERE*! (Full URL is: https://resweb.passkey.com/go/ymlx9)

This link should list the Pickwick as your only option once you follow the steps below. (*Seems the previous link somehow got botched up - this one should take you directly to the YML Pickwick link. Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Last edited by Sly Oct 1/08.)

2. Indicate the number of standard rooms you wish to book; click Book Now button.

3. Check boxes corresponding to the dates of your stay, and proceed with your reservation as prompted.

4. Once complete, a confirmation email should be sent to the email address you provided during registration.

If you'd prefer to make your reservations by telephone:

Housing Customer Service
(866) 704- 6724 (within the U.S.)
(506) 637- 0318 (outside the U.S.)
US Hours: Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 8:00 pm EST.

*Please tell the operator that you are booking under the YML block in order to qualify for the YML/Macworld block rate.

Reservations may be changed, based upon availability, or canceled until 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date without penalty. Cancellations received less than 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date will be charged one-night's room and tax.

Please note: All YML reservations will be sent to the Pickwick Hotel at the room block cut-off date of December 15, 2008 directly from the Macworld Expo housing site, so if you feel the urge to contact the hotel directly “just to be sure” after you’ve made your reservation, please wait until AFTER December 22nd at the earliest.

Click here to check on your reservation or to make any changes to your reservations prior to December 15th. Please DO NOT contact the hotel directly with regards to your reservation prior to December 22, 2008 as all Macworld reservations are first processed through Macworld’s Housing system in conjunction with the Pickwick Hotel and hotel staff may not be aware of all of the special IDG Macworld rates.

To learn more about the Pickwick Hotel, please click here but remember only reservations made at the above link through Macworld Housing will guarantee your special rate of $179/night.

We’ll update this forum with more information on the Pickwick, area attractions and YML plans for Macworld as January nears, so stay tuned!

Hope to see you there!

Sly

Crossing Fingers

I hope I will be joining my YML friends there in January!

Pickwick - Friday 1/9/08

According to the web registration form, the Pickwick is sold out on Friday 1/9/08. Is this correct? I really don't want to fly out on Friday if I can avoid it. Thanks!

Pickwick - Friday 1/9/09

Oops - I meant 1/9/09.

It may be but we also might

It may be but we also might be able to extend the block. Sly is looking in to it and should report back later today. Hang in there! :)

Rooms have been added to the Block

I got a hold of my rep at IDG and more rooms have been added to our block across the board, so hopefully you shouldn't have any problem making your reservations now.

If you do though, please post here and/or email me (slyatyourmaclifeshow.com - replace at with @ - duh!) :-D and I'll do what I can to get the situation fixed asap.

Thanks for your note.

Sly

The Official Hotel of YML - Checking reservations - A REMINDER!!

For those of you who have made reservations through YML's hotel block, first, thank you!

Wanna check on or change your reservation? As it states in the hotel post:

"Please note: All YML reservations will be sent to the Pickwick Hotel at the room block cut-off date of December 15, 2008 directly from the Macworld Expo housing site, so if you feel the urge to contact the hotel directly “just to be sure” after you’ve made your reservation, please wait until *AFTER* December 22nd at the earliest."

In the meantime, you can check on your reservation *before* December 22nd by visiting this LINK and clicking on "Already have a reservation?". From there you'll be asked for the confirmation number you received from the reservation system and your last name. You can then add dates, cancel a reservation or just print out your confirmation.

Again, please DO NOT contact the Pickwick directly before December 22nd as they won't have you in "their" system yet. It just causes both the hotel and yourself (and then me) undue stress. ;-)

And don't forget the deadline to reserve is December 15th!! If you find a date is sold out when making your reservation please email me asap and I'll see if more rooms can be added to that night.

See you in January!
~ Sly

Room for one more????

I also have run into the Friday night full house problem. I want to do all the YML stuff again - the Party, the trip to Cupertino AND stay at the Pickwick again. I am hoping to arrive and depart as follows:
Check-in: Sunday, January 4, 2009
Check-out: Saturday, January 10, 2009
Six nights. When I tried to make the reservation online, I got a SOLD OUT for Friday night. Do you think they could find just one more room for me on Friday night??

More Rooms have been added to the Friday!

Just received confirmation yesterday that additional rooms have been added to our hotel block for Friday, Jan 9th.

If you encounter any other problems or issues with sold out days, by all means post here, but please also email me at slyatyourmaclifeshow.com - it's more timely that way.

You can visit this direct link to register under the YML block:

https://resweb.passkey.com/go/ymlx9

Don't forget the Deadline to register is DECEMBER 15, 2008. And please please please do not call the hotel directly inquiring about your reservation until AFTER December 22nd as they won't know who you are before then. All of the reservations go into the central Macworld housing system first and the hotel won't start getting your information until after the 15th. You can confirm your reservation, or change it if necessary online.

See you there!

Roommate wanted

I'm going no matter what, but if you want to bunk with a quiet, lovely little redhead who is NO TROUBLE at all, let me know - I'll be there from the 4th through the 9th, but any potential roommates don't have to stay as long as I.

I've even lowered the standard of acceptable perviness. The Pervy Standard is now at MEDIUM.

THANKKEW GEORGE!!
