MacBook Air uses Own Version of OS X
From TowerOne
MacBook Air purchasers are being warned not to use installation discs from other Macs to install the operating system.
“The Mac OS X 10.5 installation media that shipped with your MacBook Air is designed for use on this computer only,” Apple warns in a technical document posted to its website.
“The installer prevents this software from being installed on other Macintosh computers. Furthermore, other Mac OS X 10.5 installation media should not be used when restoring the system software on your MacBook Air.”

Restore Air OS
Hey Looks like I need two macs to restore an Air OS. No DVD drive!
Why is Apple changing control on Macintosh computers in such a fundamental way?

You need two Macs or you can
You need two Macs or you can buy Apple's external DVD Drive. Apple is making the change because they assume anyone buying an Air will already have a machine with a DVD drive attached to it.

two Macs or you can . . .
Me thinks Apple has made a decision to put everything material out there on the cloud. No tangible storage, except wireless HD or web. They are thinking or have bought into, the grand man himself, Mr. Gates vision of all intangible storage.
I'm amazed at the smallness of the AIR motherboard. And have we seen the MB interior of the Touch? Apple has something mini micro going on! Nano technology anyone?
