Cannot select MacSOUP as my email client after running Apple Mail.

I'm running 10.5.1 on a new 24" iMac. After trying out Apple's Mail I can no longer select MacSOUP as my default email client. It just goes back to Mail no matter what method I use to try and set MacSOUP as my preferred email client :-( I am so sick of the problems I'm having with Leopard. Can anyone help with this issue? It's made my brand new iMac unusable for work. I need MacSOUP to handle mailto URLs. NOT bloody Mail.

TIA,
Jamie Kahn Genet

Just to be perfectly clear...

Just to be perfectly clear - it is the OS screwing up. I know how to set default app prefs in OSX. Personally I prefer RCDefaultApp, but it doesn't matter what method I use to access these prefs. It still reverts to Mail :-(

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

Have you tried "removing"

Have you tried "removing" Mail? At the very least, Zipping a copy and then throwing the original in the trash. If the OS can't see Mail, it should "flip" to the other app.
